What creative does a Shopify store need for Black Friday?

One sale page, one code, new product shots and lifestyle shots, a banner for every channel, six or so Meta ads and two short videos, all in one look, and all live by mid-November so the ads have time to learn. The mistake isn't the creative. It's starting it the week before.

What goes wrong every year?

Not the ads. The timing. Two weeks out, a founder realizes the sale needs a landing page, a code, an email, new banners, new photos, social posts and ads, and starts all of them at once.

It's just not planning ahead. One week goes by, two weeks go by, and now all of a sudden you're in November. You finally get everything set up, and then you get to the point where you have to make ads, and then you're like, oh no, wait, the ads have to warm up.

Black Friday is Friday, November 27 this year, and promotions usually begin the Friday before (the Black Friday page). A campaign that goes live the week of the sale spends its best days still warming up.

What creative does the sale actually need?

Here's the set, in the order it earns its place. Every piece starts from the same product photos and the same direction, so your site, ads and Instagram read as one sale.

PieceWhat it doesRough count
Sale landing pageOne page the ads land on, matching the ads1
Sale codeSo you can see what worked1
Product shotsClean shots of what's on sale, for the page, email and Google Shopping3 to 5
Lifestyle shotsThe product in a real setting, for the page and email2 to 3
Banner setHomepage hero, collection page, email header, every platform cover1 set
Meta static adsThe feed and stories; several angles so you can see which wins6
Short videos10 seconds, UGC-style, for Reels and Stories2
Social postsKeep the feed alive the two weeks before4 to 6

That's the middle size of our Black Friday kit, because it's the smallest set that covers every place a shopper sees you.

When should each piece be live?

Work backward from the day promotions start, not from Black Friday itself.

ByDone
Early NovemberDirection picked, product photos in hand, the sale and the code decided
Mid-NovemberAds live and learning, the landing page up, banners swapped
November 20Promotions usually begin; email and social start
November 27Black Friday
November 30Cyber Monday (its own kit)

Why mid-November for the ads: a new Meta ad set starts in a learning phase, and Meta says it usually leaves it after about 50 results in the week after the last significant edit (Meta's learning phase page). Most small brands won't see 50 sales in a week until the sale is on, so ads that go live on the 20th are still learning on the 27th. The seasonal calendar has the same start dates for every selling moment through next Halloween.

What if it's already late?

Cut rather than launch half-ready. Keep the landing page, the code and the ads. Drop the pieces nobody will see in time.

I need a quick hot refresh.

That's what the done-for-you kit is for: the bare essentials for one selling day, made from your existing product photos in about 1 to 2 hours of your time, with an order-by date that still leaves the ads time to learn. The kit page shows the current order-by and delivery dates (Black Friday kit), and the Cyber Monday and Christmas kits follow it.

What does the creative cost?

Per finished asset, paid once. A product shot is $10, a lifestyle shot $19, a Meta static ad with copy $12, a 10-second UGC-style video $46 and the banner set in every size $25. The full comparison with a shoot and an agency is in how much product photography costs.

Questions people ask

Do I need new product photos for Black Friday?

Not always. If your product page photos are clean and current, the sale needs a landing page, banners and ads more than it needs new packshots. New lifestyle shots help when your current ones are from a different season.

How many Meta ads should a small brand run?

Enough angles to see a winner: around six statics and two short videos is the set we build. Fewer than three and you can't tell what worked.

Can I use the same creative for Cyber Monday?

Mostly. Swap the banner text and the code, keep the direction and the product shots. The Cyber Monday kit is built that way.

Is it too late to start?

If the ads can be live by mid-November, no. After that, cut the list to the landing page, the code and the ads, and plan Christmas properly (seasonal calendar).
